There’s one blind boy in the coffee shop where you eat your lunch every day.
He always plays chess with nothing to say, But you don’t care, you’ve had a busy day.
He’ll just sit there and he’ll smile at you, while he awaits his chance to speak to you.
But if you decide to be quiet one day he’ll sing you a tune and take you back when you were young.

There’s a tall, cute, African girl in the back of the room and she smiles at you.
She wears a long pink dress that brushes the floor, but you won’t see until she reaches the door,
She has a smile that will light the rest of the room while all of the lights are turning blue.
She’ll just stand there and she’ll wait her turn while the girls in line will talk to hear their voice.

I’ve learned in time that life is made in silence.
We always think it’s loneliness in silence.
But it’s wisdom too that’s brewed in here in silence.
And as I age I’ve learned that I want more silence.

There is this woman back in Idaho. She lives in a house at the end of the road.
Her husband he works in the general store. And every night he complains to her.
He swears that his boss is out to get him for sure, and he raves and he yells as the sun goes down.
But his wife she smiles and holds her head up high and remembers the times that he loved her like a queen.

When I walk to work there’s a man on a porch with a long gray beard that touches the floor.
He always sits back and he smiles at me. He always waves, but he never speaks.
Every Tuesday night he goes next door and he teaches the kids to read and write.
And every little girl on all sides of the street, tell their stories to him and they hug up on his neck.
