Makers of Misery
04:48
|
|||
Where did the darkness come from?
How did it root down in the ground?
Who are the authors of this painful keening sound?
Who are the makers of the gallows in the ground?
Who are the fighters that push us all around?
Who are the makers?
Where did they come from?
We are the makers of misery.
We are the builders of this place
All these stones placed deliberately.
We knew when we did it.
A temple to our past sins.
A place for our worship.
Our holiest talisman
So let’s light a candle to all of our memories.
We are the makers of misery
How do we break this?
It came from our fathers.
We’ll always drag it.
An obsessive habit.
We refuse to quit it.
We’re in love with our darkness.

A Window Between Worlds
04:29
|
|||
All our words are without weight.
All our eyes are without light.
All our minds are without spark.
All our days are without life.
I’m walking through a window without eyes.
I can be the balance when you fall.
But you’ve gotta give some help, I can’t do it all.
The ground is always shifting side to side,
So come on take the reins of this cosmic ride.
We’ll sail across the seas of the next beyond,
And settle in the realms as they move along.
I’m screaming through a window between worlds.
Who in there receives me on the other side?

Fireflies
04:25
|
|||
We lay in the dark with the fireflies.
And play in the light with the bees.
We watch the moon and the satellites.
I love it when you’re with me.
We’ll stay all night with the fireflies.
Our beds made soft with the leaves.
The time we have it feels so right.
Just you and the stars and me.
I wish that we were the fireflies.
So happy and home and so free.
We’d do a dance in the warm night.
Your beautiful lightning and me.
Just for now let’s be fireflies.
Tossed around in the breeze.
Your light in my eyes it’s just so bright.
That it makes me want to believe.
Our time’s at an end with the fireflies.
Let’s not forget who to be.
You’re my perfect and flawless Madonna.
My moon and my stars and my queen.

Cosmonaut
04:56
|
|||
We all have days when we’re floating.
Sometimes good. Sometimes bad.
Days when the whole world is on our side.
Days when everything crumbles down.
Right now’s a time when my mind is drifting.
Keeps taking me so far away.
I always fear that it’ll sink the ship.
And I won’t have time to resurrect it.
Cosmonaut. I’m just floating away now.
What’ve I got, to be so proud of anyhow?
They always say to love yourself,
but sometimes that’s impossible.
The darkness creeps and it overtakes,
and makes it hard to see the sun.
But now as I open the last air lock,
The rays are bright and they stream right in.
I can taste the light. It washes me,
and cleans the filth right off my skin.

The Brambles
04:00
|
|||
Every word you speak
Every step you take
Is a move on down the path
Whether up the road or back
The thing you just don’t get
Is you’re never sitting still
The world spins and shakes
And you with it as well
No matter how you live your life
Something new will grow inside
It might be fruit and fragrant vines
it might be thorns and brambles tied
Through trials in this life I know
You’re bound to grow the seeds you sow
Bitter roots and brambles grow
Until you trim the thistles low
The brambles twist and grow

Become the Host
04:40
|
|||
I’m gonna fight this urge to make you feel. It’s not gonna make it real.
We’re gonna scream and shout and let it out, until it makes us heal.
You’ve got a choice when the end is come. Fight for life or succumb.
One path is peace and one is life, do you want the peace or be numb?
They say the end comes to all that live, accept your fate and forgive.
Cross your arms and give it up, be proud of what you’ve been.
Give up the ghost. Give up the ghost. Choose the world you want the most.
Give up the ghost. Give up the ghost. Unlock your jaws and become the host.
The reaper comes with your number drawn, you’re not gonna keep it on.
Drop your guns and take a knee, we all have a time to leave.
When you’re gone I’ll keep you on, through stories and a song.
So go in peace and rest in power, haunt us in this hour.

Keyboard Warrior
05:12
|
|||
What are you saying? That everyone’s paying
so much attention to you?
That everyone wants you to be their oracle
and they think you’re some god like thing too?
You’ve convinced yourself that you’re so important
that every word you speak will need to be saved.
Such a keyboard warrior. A Facebook lawyer.
With a broken, jaded, self-important view.
I wish that there were so much more of you.
To fix the worlds’ issues.
Have you ever tried to look in someone’s eyes
to see the hurt that’s buried there?
Have you ever asked a question that you
hadn’t already decided the answer to?
Have you ever tried to learn from the past
of someone who isn’t exactly like you?
Maybe it’s time to listen. Maybe it’s time to see.
Maybe it’s time to climb up of that high horse.

Budding Crystals
03:18
|
|||
I walked the forest floor
Searching for a signal
That you were coming near
But my search was mostly silent
Moon and damp and leaves
And whispers in the trees
I plucked budding crystals
Off those ancient leaves
and set them in a ring
of silver, rose, and gold
I walked for many hours
Dew upon my hair
The treescape here was endless
A million spots to hide
The cave with recessed darkness
A canyon that cuts the ground
I finally stopped and lay down
A perfect time to quit
When your shadow rose above me
Your smile looking down
Come lay down here beside me
And tell me where you’ve been

Comanche Moon
05:33
|
|||
The river’s wide. The grass is green I’ve never been more alive.
The lake is full. The wind it blows strength and hope into my soul.
The sky is clear. I left the filth back with my lost dreams and fears.
The cedar trees so thick and green like they’re calling out for me.
I hear a horse’s wicker beneath Comanche moon.
The air in here grows thicker beneath Comanche moon.
I see the gleaming eyes beneath Comanche moon.
They won’t take me alive beneath Comanche moon.
It was all a lie. All the green over everything has died.
The ground is dead. It’s a siren song. It was only in our head.
We need to leave. But we’ve given much when we wanted to believe.
We’re dug in now. The life we made here is rooted in the ground.
We came to seek salvation,
But we bathed in blood instead.
We worked our fingers raw
And buried all our dead

Whites of Your Eyes
05:30
|
|||
You and I were never made to work.
It’s always been disastrous.
We fell so hard at the start of this
that we can’t see the forest for the trees.
It falls apart. Is that so strange?
Just like life, we have to close it down.
How you gonna live when he takes your pain away?
When you can’t place all your hope in the empty words you say?
Will you learn to close up shop or create some brand new pain?
To thrust upon the world with someone new to blame?
How are you with the pain of loss?
Won’t it take a lot of time?
I guess I thought you’d mourn this for a bit
and take your time before you moved along.
Yet here you are, a drink in hand,
smiling broad and working the whole room.
I can read it in the whites of your eyes.

Passengers
06:30
|
|||
I was in the fast lane speeding for the city lights,
She’s nodding right behind me like the rumble strips are keeping time.
God I hope we make it in the time we have to save her life,
Her eyes are glazed over like a doll inside your grandmas house.
What were you guys thinking? Tell me where you got your shit?
It wasn’t like a special buy. She’s the one that brought it here.
Now she’s going comatose and how do I confront her mom?
I’ll do all the talking there, you can just stand in back.
I was in the driver’s seat, you were in the passenger’s.
What’re we gonna do with her?
I was in the driver’s seat, you were in the passenger’s.
What’re we gonna do with her?
Her breathing keeps decreasing and her heart beat is a metronome.
But the bpm is slowing down. Rapidly we’re losing her.
I wish that she could hear me just so I could tell her how I feel.
Instead we’re going to lose her here before we even get a chance.
Just before she passes through her eyes look up and lock on mine.
It’s then I see the passenger that haunted her until she left.
She’s dies right there beside me with the ER there within our sights.
Couldn’t she just give us time to rush here there and save her life?
I was in the driver’s seat, you were in the passenger’s.
What’re we gonna do with her?
I was in the driver’s seat, you were in the passenger’s.
What’re we gonna do with her?
She found a place where she’s happier. (We all have passengers)
A world apart from reality. (We all have passengers)
Where she can escape from her inner darkness. (We all have passengers)
Free from the grips that were killing her. (We all have passengers)
Life needs escape. A special place. (We all have passengers)
It’s just this time she went too deep. (We all have passengers)
I wish I was in time to pull her back. (We all have passengers)
But I guess it’s time to let her sleep. (we all have passengers)
And lay her soul at the masters’ feet. (we all have passengers)

Typical
04:25
|
|||
We can no longer stand here to rest.
Not when these bandits took all that was left.
We tried to keep it righteous, but we slipped along the way.
Nothing big at first, but we landed there one day.
We have to keep on moving. Keep on pushing on.
Before they’re right beside us and throw this all away.
It’s tough I know to keep it going. I’m not the sanest man.
But if you give some effort here, I promise that I can.
I’ll do the best for you, the best I know to give.
I’ll do my best to fight for us, to continue how we live.
I was the water, you were the fire.
How was I supposed to know exactly what you’d want?
I was the ley lines, you were the earthquake,
that broke these foundations many years before.
